CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
We are looking for urban Aboriginal artists who wish to join the Looking Forward Looking Back Project.
We are looking for weavers, painters, sculptures, dancers, poets, storytellers, comedians, musicians, designers, new media, the video arts and other forms of artistic expression. The purpose of the site is to provide a place for urban Aboriginal artists to tell their own story in their own words, in their own way, sometimes with the help of other artists or members from their family or from the community at large.
The stories may be in the form of the written word, graphics and illustration, digital video, cloth or textiles, music and dance and/or voice recording or a rich mix of media formats – this is up to the artists.
The guideline is that the story ‘looks forward and back’ – to give voice or expression of the artist’s cultural identity as they personally see it today.
Additionally, every artist that is featured on the site will have an opportunity to create their own gallery space and e-commerce site.
